World Christian Gathering on Indigenous People in Jerusalem in September

The WCGIP (World Christian Gathering on Indigenous People) www.wcgip.org/wcgip/index.cfm was founded by Monte and Linda Ohia ("O-h-ee-a"). Monte and Linda are from New Zealand and both are of Maori origin, an indigenous people of New Zealand.

The goal of WCGIP is to enable indigenous Christians to meet, and express themselves to God and to each other in ways which affirm godly indigenous worship, teaching, prophecy, pasturing, evangelism, and discussion. All people are welcome.

The very first Gathering took place in Rotoroa, New Zealand in 1996, principally among Maori tribespeople. The Second Gathering was held in Rapid City, South Dakota in the U.S.A. Sydney, Australia was home to the Third Gathering in 2000, and the Fourth Gathering was in Hawaii in 2002. The Fifth Gathering was held in Sweden in August 2005. Davao City, Philippines hosted the last Gathering in September 2006. These events have since made the WCGIP renowned around the world and the events keep growing.  The next Gathering will be in Jerusalem

The WCGIP in Israel will not be a conference in a building. It will be a roving gathering with all events taking place outdoors in different places throughout Israel. The Gathering will start on September 9 and ends on the 18th. Most delegates will arrive in Israel via plane at the Ben Gurion International Airport near Tel Aviv, and will stay overnight in a hotel along the beach in Tel Aviv.

The Gathering shall begin with an elaborate welcome ceremony and the arrival of canoes on the beach in Yafo (Jaffa, Joppa) on Wednesday, September 10th.

The delegates will then have four nights on the shore of the Sea of Galilee, with all activities under the open sky. This will be followed by four nights in Jerusalem, with all activities under the open sky by the Old City. The Gathering will end on the evening of Wednesday the 17th. Most delegates will fly home on Thursday, September 18th.
